Ricardo Martinez, ATC, is in his first season with Chivas USA as the club’s Assistant Athletic Trainer after spending part of his educational career as an intern with the Red-and-White organization. Martinez’s responsibilities with the Goats include assisting Heat Athletic Trainer Sean Kupiec in all aspects of the team's medical care, players' rehabilitation and sports performance, both in-season and during the offseason. Prior to joining Chivas USA, Martinez spent a year being the Head Athletic Trainer at Santa Monica’s High School, where he managed the health care of every student-athlete. Martinez also introduced a concussion management program to all sport teams in the school. A native of Long Beach, Calif., where he still resides, Martinez graduated from California State University – Long Beach, in 2011 with a BS in Athletic Training. A bilingual speaker in English and Spanish, Martinez has also been an active volunteer for major societies such as the American Red Cross and the LA’s B.E.S.T., an organization that provides children with a safe place to learn and play throughout Los Angeles.

Sean Kupiec, ATC, PES, CSCS is in his second season with Chivas USA as the club’s Head Athletic Trainer. In addition to being a certified athletic trainer, Kupiec is also recognized as a performance enhancement specialist by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In 2012, Kupiec also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Kupiec's responsibilities with the Red-and-White include overseeing and directing all aspects of the team's medical care, players' rehabilitation and sports performance, both in-season and during the offseason. Prior to joining the Goats, Kupiec had a five-year-tenure with the New England Revolution. In his first year, Kupiec’s efforts were rewarded by being selected as the head athletic trainer for the 2008 MLS All-Star Team that defeated English Premier League's West Ham United. Before becoming a member of the Major League Soccer family, Kupiec spent the 2006 and 2007 National Football League (NFL) seasons with the New England Patriots as the team's athletic training intern, where he worked closely with the Pats' athletic training and strength and conditioning staffs to maintain the health and fitness of the record-setting 2007 AFC Champions. With the Pats, he also coordinated the daily responsibilities for the season and training camp interns, compiled the team's daily injury and NFL reports, and administered the team's IMPACT testing, in addition to overseeing several game day procedures with opposing teams.’ A 2006 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Master’s in Exercise and Sports Science, Kupiec spent two years as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer working with the school's wrestling, the men's and women's track and field and cross country teams, and the football team. A native of Utica, N.Y., Kupiec graduated from Springfield College in 2004 and currently lives in Beverly Hills, Calif., where he cultivates his passion for the film industry. He was also a featured speaker at the 2008 National Athletic Trainers Association annual meeting.
