Chet North begins his 17th season as the athletic trainer for Sporting Kansas City. North was named the 2009 MLS Trainer of the Year and is responsible for the day-to-day health of the team. North has been with the team since its inaugural season. 

 

North hails from Orcas Island, part of the San Juan Islands in Washington. He attended Western Washington University, where he majored in physical education. He then obtained a master's degree in exercise science from Seattle Pacific University, and upon graduation took a position with Seattle University as the Head of Sports Medicine as well as trainer for the Seattle Sea Dawgs of the CISL. North was also an assistant trainer for the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL during that time.

 

North was a United States Rowing Champion in 1984 and 1986 and enjoys playing hockey. In 2005, he took part in a humanitarian trip to Thailand, where he aided in relief efforts from the Tsunami that ravaged the Far East in December 2004

A native of Mishima, Japan, Ishii joined Sporting Kansas City in May 2008. He became team’s rehabilitation coordinator in 2010, which primary responsibility including design and coordinate rehabilitation, reconditioning, and injury prevention programs for Sporting Kansas City players.

 

Ishii earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and Movement Science from Texas Christian University (TCU) and Master of Science in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania. While Ishii was in TCU, he experienced various sports medicine settings, including internships at Ben Hogan Sports Therapy Institute, Fort Worth Flyers (NBA-D), Dallas Cowboys (NFL), and Kansas City Wizards (MLS).

 

Ishii is Postural Restoration Trained (PRT) athletic trainer from Postural Restoration Institute, and has passion in the integrated approach of manual therapy and movement training for injury prevention and performance enhancement in soccer. He also envisions to popularize athletic training in youth sports to support young athletes in Japan. Ishii and his wife Tomoyo reside in Overland Park, KS, with their son Ryotaro
