Jaime Rojas is the Head Athletic Trainer for the Colorado Rapids. He also served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Miami Fusion from 1998-2001.

 

Prior to the Colorado Rapids, Jaime was the Director for ATI Physical Therapy- Midway. During his time at ATI Physical Therapy, it was voted the Best Physical Therapy Practice in the nation for 2006 by Advanced Magazine.

 

Jaime has worked as the athletic trainer for the U.S. Soccer Federation and the Men's and Women's U.S. National Soccer Teams. During the 1998 and 1999 off-seasons, Rojas joined the U.S. Pro-40 Select (MLS developmental team) on its winter tours, traveling to England and Portugal.

 

Prior to his time in Major League Soccer, Rojas was the athletic trainer for the Florida International University men's soccer and baseball teams. He has also completed an internship with the Florida Marlins in 1996.

 

Rojas earned bachelor and master degrees from Florida International University. He is a decorated veteran of the Gulf War, where he served as a U.S. Army helicopter crew chief. He received his honorable discharge in 1991.

 

In 2010, Rojas was the sole Athletic Trainer presenting at the Soccer Industry Medical Symposium attended by the leading doctors, physical therapists, and athletic trainers working within the sport of soccer.

Michael Heitkamp joined the Rapids as the club’s Assistant Athletic Trainer in July of 2012, working with Head Athletic Trainer Jaime Rojas to supervise the health and fitness of the first team, including treatment and rehabilitation. A BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, Heitkamp has over 10 years of experience in athletic training, coaching and fitness.

Heitkamp came to Colorado from Castleton State College in Castleton, Vt. where he served for three years as an athletic trainer, working with many teams, primarily men’s and women’s soccer, women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s skiing, and women’s lacrosse.

A graduate of Springfield (Mass.) College with a B.S. in Athletic Training, Heitkamp was a four year member of the Pride’s track and field program, where he was named captain in his senior year. A Vermont native, Michael lives in Denver with his wife Melissa where they are expecting their first child in July.
